“ His Sacrifice for You “ ( Part 1 )

Isaiah said, Isa 52:14 msg Many people were shocked when they saw him; he was so disfigured that he hardly looked human. Heb 10:14 GNB With one sacrifice, then, he has made perfect forever those who are purified from sin. • One sacrifice – speaks of the sacrifice that Jesus made of Himself on the cross. There is nothing more that Jesus has to do… He has done it all through... one perfect sacrifice. ➢ So, the sacrifice of Jesus is complete but “our appropriation of the benefits” is progressive.

Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.——5 Note: ➢ our weapon against the enemy is “ the cross “ and only the cross.

Rev 12:11 KJV And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. • The cross … is Satan’s only point of defeat. ➢ So, the basis of every benefit we get from God is what was done

by Jesus on the cross.

  1. Jesus was punished for our iniquities … so that we might be Forgiven. Isa 53:4-5 KJV Surely he hath borne our griefs ( sickness ), and carried our sorrows ( pains ): yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. vs 4 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. vs 5

Isa 48:22 KJV There is no peace, says the Lord, unto the wicked.

Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

The second benefit of the cross… 2) Jesus was wounded … so that we might be healed. … and with his stripes we are healed. vs 5

Matt 8:14-17 KJV And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. vs 14 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. vs 15 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: 16 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. vs 17 ➢ The New Testament Quotes Isa 53:5 … referring to physical healing.

Apostle Peter refers to Isa 53 in … 1 Pet 2:24 KJV Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. vs 24 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. vs 25

Third benefit … 3) Jesus was made sin … that we might be made righteous with His righteousness. Isa 53:10 KJV Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. vs 10 ➢ Jesus’ soul was made a sin offering … for all of humanity.

Heb 10:4 KJV For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

Heb 9:12 amp He went once for all into the Holy of Holies of heaven, not by virtue of the blood of goats and calves [by which to make reconciliation between God and man], but His own blood, having found and secured a complete redemption (an everlasting release for us). Heb 9:26 KJV …but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

➢ On the cross … Jesus was made … “ to be sin “ 2 Cor 5:21 2 Cor 5:21 KJV For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Note: Paul is referring to Isa 53:10 … thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin … We don’t need to struggle … to be righteous. We’ve been made righteous by faith. We can never be righteous based on our performance: Isa 64:6 KJV … and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags … ➢ Jesus has taken my “ sin … filthy rags “ … and in exchange clothed me in His Righteousness.

➢ Jesus makes us righteous apart from our performance. ➢ I’m as righteous on my worse day of performance … then I am on my best day.

The fourth benefit … 4) Jesus tasted death for us … that we might share His life. Heb 2:9 KJV But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should
