1. Sermon—- Power of His Resurrection 1 Cor 1:18, 21 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. —21 Rom 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. —16

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.

Note �� The centre of Christianity is what Jesus Christ did for us at the cross. The death of Jesus The burial of Jesus… Three days in the grave In the resurrection of Jesus Christ

• The Cross is central... to knowing Jesus
• Because He came to give us more than a lesson
• Jesus came to give us... “resurrection life”

The Central message of the Gospel is—— * Jesus Died

• Jesus was buried.... 3 days
• Jesus was resurrected on the 3rd day.

What is the difference... There were others in the Bible that were raised from the dead—- but they died later on. But Jesus—- was resurrected not just in body... but in spirit—- —- First Born from the dead Acts 13:30-33 But God raised him from the dead: And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people. And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. Heb 1:5-6 For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son”? But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him.”

When was Jesus Born of God—-{ not when he was physically born } Resurrection day

• Jesus paid the full price for our sin
• became a curse— was made to be sin
• suffered our judgement
• first-born from the dead

Ps 118:24 NKJ This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. Col 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dear, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

Jesus said to those seeking a sign from Him— Matt 12:38-40 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”

But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
