Example: Hannah prayed for a long time for a child … God answered her prayer… and she named her son, Samuel = ( ask of God ) Some names were known for fame, greatest … David. God himself blessed the name of David. 2 Sam 7:8-9 Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts: “I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel. —-8 And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth. In the Old Testament, God revealed his name to Moses—As Yahweh. I AM. The name of Yahweh was so crucial to devout Jews… they recited it twice a day Deut 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! —4 This was the first verse… That was talk to Hebrew children. Parents of that day wanted their children to confess this verse before they learned anything else. They wanted their children to know the name of Yahweh.
Parents— Set a model for your children when they’re young. Make this a priority… Praising God, prayer… Church, attendance involvement in the great commission.—- Now we turn to Isaiah 9… We will look at the prophetic names that were given about Jesus Christ 700 years before his birth. Note: We have preached… On how our God Can move suddenly and miraculously. However … God also moves and thinks generationally. Not everything is instantaneous. God looks way into the future… Beyond just our life. Not everything happens fast… But God is always working his plan even when you cannot see it or feel it… God is working. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.—-6 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end,…——7 Note: These words speak clearly that Jesus Christ would come into this world through the womb of a woman. …. For unto us a Child is born
And he overcame. * Betrayal
God became a man so he could identify with us… So we could know what he is really like. Next … He is a Son Given Unto us a Son is given This means that Jesus pre-existed before time began Jesus did not come into existence… When he was born into this earth Jesus always existed Because Jesus is God Jesus is the son of God… Given. And he was given to take away the sins of the world. Story — In World War II… There was a man who have been wounded in battle.. and his leg was gonna have to be amputated. In the hospital room… The doctor said I’m sorry, but we’re gonna have to take your leg. The soldier said, no, sir, “ i’m giving my leg for my country”. That perspective changed everything. Jesus gives us his perspective regarding what he did for us. John 10:17-18 Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”—18 Note Never think of poor Jesus at the cross… As a victim
Jesus gave his life… No one took it from him The cross… Was Jesus‘s destiny… Before he ever became a man remember, he said… I could call 12 legions of angels and stop all of us Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder— Jesus Christ would rise to have all authority over the entire universe Jesus humbled himself… And made himself completely obedient to the father as will And therefore, God, the father, highly exalted Jesus, and has given him a name, above every name. Not only does he have for lordship over all of creation He can have lordship in each of our lives… Releasing his life and peace in every area of our lives. Dominating all the powers of darkness… And giving us complete victory.
Jesus did not come to take part in our lives Jesus came to be the Lord over all of our lives. Question Who rules on the throne of your heart?
