Opening Song: I’m Going Free ( Jail-Break ) Offering: 2 Cor 9:6-7 — TLB But remember this--if you give little, you will get little. A farmer who plants just a few seeds will get only a small crop, but if he plants much, he will reap much. Everyone must make up his own mind as to how much he should give. Don't force anyone to give more than he really wants to, for cheerful givers are the ones God prizes. vs 7 — msg I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving. Our Heavenly Calling
2 Cor 5:17-19 NKJ Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. vs 19
God will not use the Angels—- { They cannot preach the Gospel } Acts 10:1-7 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. vs 2
About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!” vs 3 And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?” vs 4 So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God. Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter. vs 6 He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do. vs 7 Acts 11:14 who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved. Note Here is a very good man... he has God’s attention... God sends an Angel But the Angel “does not tell him the Good News”——( Angel arranges the meeting ) Why?—— Because Angels do not have that assignment. Angels have the assignment—— to help steer people in the right direction. Acts 8:5-8 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them.
And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city. Angel arranges a Gospel Meeting Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. —-vs 26 So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, —vs 27 was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet.—— vs 28 Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.” Vs 29 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”—- vs 30 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.—- vs 31 The place in the Scripture which he read was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth.—- vs 32 In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth.”—— vs 33 So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?” —- vs 34 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. Note The Angel... and the Holy Spirit ( did not preach the Gospel ) but helped arrange for an unsaved man to come into contact with a follower of Jesus....
But it was man ( Philip ) who had the —- job of telling the Gospel message.
When we pray...
Even Jesus himself —— won’t preach the gospel. Acts 9:1-6 Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. — vs 3 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, ”Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”— vs 4 And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, ”I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, ” Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” ” Notice... Even Jesus didn’t tell him how to be saved! Why? Because the bible says that the ministry of sharing the gospel has been committed to us. Every believer has been called by God.... to tell people what they must do to be saved! Tell them about Jesus... Tell them about His death... His burial... His resurrection!
God does not use Angels... —- to Preach The Holy Spirit does not — Even Jesus Himself no longer preaches —-
Sharing the Gospel—— IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY If God is going to reach people ( in your world of influence ) with the Gospel of Jesus Christ...—- it will only happen through us ( followers of Jesus )! 2 Thess 2:13-14 TLB But we must forever give thanks to God for you, our brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose from the very first to give you salvation, cleansing you by the work of the Holy Spirit and by your trusting in the Truth.
Through us he told you the Good News. Through us he called you to share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Mark 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen. People without Jesus need you—- or they will never be saved Matt 9:36-38 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” God has chosen—— to reach people—- through each one of us! Note When Christians hear about sharing the gospel—— many freeze up...
