Galatians 1– After Paul’s conversion— 17 years of silence Gal 1:15-17 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, —-15 to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, —16 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.—-16 Note ️ This happened after Paul escaped —- let down the city walls of Damascus in a basket They were going kill him.
Gal 1:18-19 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and remained with him fifteen days. But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Lord’s brother.—-19 Galatians 2:1-2 Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me. —1 And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain. Note ️ Paul shares to the other Apostles what the Holy Spirit had revealed to him…about What happened from… the Cross to the Throne. What happened in the 3 days and nights before the resurrection The Church The Present Day Ministry of Jesus— Apostle & High Priest of our confession Mediator of New Covenant
Righteousness by faith Paul Confronts Peter Galatians 2:11-16. NLT But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong. —-11
When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision. 12
As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.—-13
When I saw that they were not following the truth of the gospel message, I said to Peter in front of all the others, “Since you, a Jew by birth, have discarded the Jewish laws and are living like a Gentile, why are you now trying to make these Gentiles follow the Jewish traditions?—-14 “You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. —-15
Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.”——16
Gal 2:16. NKJ knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we ( Jews ) have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. Note ️ Everything that Jesus did on the cross… He did for you The Cross was a substitution… He became sin… That we would be made righteous —identification —- in Christ Jesus… The new nature… And a new identity 2 Cor 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Rom 5:18-19 Therefore, as through one man’s offence judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. —18 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.—-19 Our New identification Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”—-21 Galatians 3 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”—-11 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), —-13 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.—-14 Jesus spoke of this substitution Jesus —- made a curse for us Serpent on a pole = type of sin / Satan John 3:14-17 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. —15 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.—-17
Galatians 4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, —-4
to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.—5 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” ——6
Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. 7
This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. —-8
