- Sermon —— Spiritual climate of the last days
Matt 24:36-39
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father
only. —-36
But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. —-37
For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in
marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, —-38
and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of
the Son of Man be.——39
Perilous Times ahead—
2 Tim 3:1-9
BUT UNDERSTAND this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great
stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].—-1
For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused
by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous
boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents,
ungrateful, unholy and profane.—-2
[They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless
(admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers,
troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce,
haters of good.—-3
[They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will
be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of
God.—-4
For [although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are
strangers to the power of it [their conduct belies the genuineness of their profession].
Avoid [all] such people [turn away from them].——5
For among them are those who worm their way into homes and captivate silly and weak-
natured and spiritually dwarfed women, loaded down with [the burden of their] sins [and
easily] swayed and led away by various evil desires and seductive impulses.—6
[These weak women will listen to anybody who will teach them]; they are forever
inquiring and getting information, but are never able to arrive at a recognition and
knowledge of the Truth.——7
I want to talk to you about —-Keeping Watch Over your Life
Jesus is speaking very clear to “every believer” who would ever follow Him— to watch!
Watch = Pay close attention
be cautious, and alert... Be on your guard!
Note
God gives us responsibility for others... but sometimes we don’t KEEP WATCH over our own
Life... our own walk with God...
Note
God wants us to have—-Overcoming Lives...—— so He says—- WATCH.... Stay Alert...
Examine Your Life... “in the Light of God’s Word” as you stay in “Close fellowship” with His
People.
Some Christians when they encounter “life’s challenges”... pressures & temptations
Drop out of....
- prayer & reading the Bible
- Church ⛪️ —- prayer meetings, bible studies, fellowship
- living for God
This morning—- I want to encourage you...
- Pay Close Attention to your direction of your life
Note ️
Measure & compare your life according to God’s word ( Bible )
Not…
according to the culture of the world.
2 Tim 3:16-17 NLT
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong
in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 16
God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.—-17
- Stay focused on growing in your walk with God.
- Cut off ... anything that would hinder you from
serving God... & being on Fire
- Cut off —- any activity, place or person that is like
a wet blanket in your life
2 Tim 4:2-3 NLT
Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favourable or not.
Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.—-2
For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They
will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching
ears want to hear. —-3
They will reject the truth and chase after myths.——4
Know this—- that many that used to serve God... are now wandering in a wilderness
outside of the will of God.
